Introduction #
Today, I went to see the movie “Michael”.
I’m not exactly a fan of Michael, but he’s so incredibly famous that I really can’t say I don’t know him.
I don’t think I’m from that generation, but I do remember that when I was in elementary or junior high school, there were definitely a lot of Michael fans around me.
By the way, even back then, I was already obsessed with bishoujo anime 💦
I went to see this movie because I wanted to take this opportunity to learn what kind of person Michael was and what kind of history he carved into the music industry.
Actually, getting a 1,200 yen birthday coupon was also one of the reasons…

Thoughts #
It’s hard to draw a conclusion.
Looking strictly at the movie, Michael is a truly gentle person. I think some parts might have been dramatized, but after looking up materials from that era, I felt that Michael was genuinely an innocent and honest person.
Since childhood, he was constantly exploited by his toxic father, which implanted trauma so severe that just seeing his father’s figure would make him vomit.
Spending a massive amount of money to build a private amusement park called Neverland Ranch—wasn’t that just his way of trying to reclaim even a little bit of his lost childhood?
The settlement money he received from the accident where his head was burned was also entirely donated to a hospital. Whether you call it compassion or projection, isn’t it a kindness rooted in not wanting others to experience his own misfortune?
But there certainly were those sexual abuse lawsuits, weren’t there…
Personally, I feel that if you are born into an unhappy family, there is a high possibility of falling down a path like that.
Because I was also born into that kind of unhappy family.
And now, I’m obsessed with bishoujo anime and manga every day (lol).
What was the reality? We just don’t know…
To be honest, I don’t want to get dragged into such troublesome controversies.
Conclusion #
Thanks to this movie, I learned a lot about Michael. I’m looking forward to the next new release!
